A2 Hosting still has not fixed the Database after their servers failed AGAIN. A2 Hosting is the WORST!
Because of this, new posts are currently missing and I can only HOPE they eventually recover the table they didn't restore after their latest failure.

One Little Thing - A Challenge

Some people say "It's the Little Things", but mostly, it isn't.  It is the BIG things that knock you down or lift you up.  Like a heavy weight boxer with a mean right hook.  But that isn't the whole story.  For bad or good, what gets you to the point where one big hit will send you over the top... you guessed it... IS the "Little Things".

Little things that make you happy or sad, or even just grind away at your time a few minutes a day.  Nothing really... really.  But at some point you figure out that those few minutes a day are adding up.  Minutes.  Just minutes... but they turn out to be a whole day a year.  Weeks of your lifetime, or even more.  And a often the time drain can't be avoided... at least not completely.

But maybe we can do something.  Here is a simple example...

While spending a lot of work getting our reef aquarium back in shape, I have spent a surprising amount of time poking around to find the right cords to the right pumps, lights, etc.  Plugging and un-plugging and re-plugging.  Yes.  A very simple... annoying... and surprisingly time-consuming task.  Over and over.  Nothing big... nothing worth spending money over.

So it was against my very being to spend money on a power strip that had switches for each plug.  Fourteen whole dollars.  But once in a while a little gift for yourself is a good thing.  Then I sat down with a little spare time, and carefully labeled and set up my aquarium cords.

With the equivalent cost of a fast-food lunch and a little time, now, instead of minutes spent on an annoying task building up, each time I need to shut off a pump or the lights, it is a flick of a switch.  More surprisingly it makes me smile each time.  Silly, I know, but just reducing an annoyance has turned it into a tiny happy moment.  And those build up, too.

So my challenge for everyone is to spend just a little time this week making some "Little Thing" that annoys you, or takes up a little of your time, better.  A little less annoying... a little less time consuming... a little more enjoyable.

Tidy up those cords that annoy you, organize a drawer, tie a washcloth around the bed leg that you stub your toe on, or spackle the small hole in the ceiling that drives you just a little crazy every time you look at it.  Or maybe just spring for that gadget that would save you a few minutes each day.  Just find one little way to make one little thing better in your life.  It really is surprising what a difference it can make.

Er... which reminds me... where was that tub of spackle?
