A2 Hosting still has not fixed the Database after their servers failed AGAIN. A2 Hosting is the WORST!
Because of this, new posts are currently missing and I can only HOPE they eventually recover the table they didn't restore after their latest failure.

Patio finally re-bricked.

So sometimes it feels like the only thing I have been doing for the last six months is pound bricks and dig in my driveway to prevent the heavy rains from destroying it.

And, well, except a handful of other things including walking Mowzer every morning, it is.  At least it is about the only productive things I have been doing.  And that has been slow going... very slow.

In any case, with hubby home to help a bit with digging, I am excited to say I finally pounded the last brick for the patio in yesterday.

When last I posted about re-laying the rest of the patio, I still had somewhere in the range of a thousand bricks stacked in front of the office door and a very, very long way to go.

I managed to finally dig up the area that never had bricks, but it sat that way most of the winter since I just didn't have the strength of body or will to flatten and shovel away the excess.

With hubby's help doing some shoveling, I got it flattened out and pounded the bricks one at a time with a dead-blow hammer.  Tedious to say the least, but if ever you need to get any frustration out, hitting bricks with all your strength over and over, does do the trick nicely.

At the end, I had a couple handful of bricks left... which was a good thing since I destroyed about 3 for every angled brick I needed to go next to the angled door pad.

It is pretty exciting to have done, not only just to have a full patio again, but also because now I have a pretty view out the office door instead of staring at a ton of bricks.

There are a dozen other projects around the house that need done, but now that I have a set of helping hands around again, hopefully we will make more progress before our next BIG THING happens at the end of August.  Shhhh... don't ruin the surprise!

I wondered why we hadn't heard from you in a long while.  Your patio looks wonderful. What are you doing with the driveway to preserve it?

Hubby welcome home! hope it will be for long time.

How is Mowzer getting along with dad now home?

I have dug small trenches across the driveway at an angle.  It makes kinda reverse speed bumps, so not that fun to drive down.  However, when it rains hard it moves the water in the cuts to the down-hill side and keeps it from flowing down the middle of the driveway and making a canyon too dangerous to drive on.  They work great, but need some maintenance especially to clear them out after some of the torrential rains we have been getting over the last couple months.

Mowzer did great when I took him out on the plane to meet hubby in Virginia, and only had a few fussy times (related to heat and sun) on the drive home.  We stopped at my parents’ home for a week and Mowzer did pretty well there also.  Hubby and Mowzer were best buds almost immediately.

When we got back to Denver I dropped hubby off to get our car from my sister’s and went on home.  Hubby got some groceries and came home a bit later.  Mowzer was SHOCKED.  Not so much territorial, but he just could not wrap his little kitty brain around how hubby found his way home here and how some other creature could be living here now.

It took a few days and a few walks before Mowzer decided to fully accept him being in “our” home.  And it seemed more than once that Mowzer would try to rush home after we went for a walk to loose hubby.  And each time he was pretty worried that hubby kept finding his way back.

It wasn’t long before they were great friends here, too though.  Hubby is more active in playing with Mowzer and it is appreciated.  And now Mowzer wants to wait if hubby falls too far behind in a walk, and encouraged to get going if hubby gets ahead of us.  It is terribly cute.

He still seems a little dubious about hubby taking over "his" side of the bed, but Mowzer is happy to have hubby around.
