While my foldy-collapsy-flippy-scaffoldy ladder is great for versatility, it is nearly as heavy at the huge 28ft slide ladder... and the steps are twice as sharp and painful to stand on for very long. My great work shoes from Colombia flex enough to easily grip the rungs, but are more resiliently padded than any other shoes I have. Still, I am almost looking forward to being up on the super tall ladder with flatter steps instead.
And with some progress over the last week or two, I will soon be up there again.
First was finishing the tall corner and side work on the right side of the house:
And luckily a guy who brought me some fish for the reef tank was happy to help me move the giant ladder to the other side of the house.
Then I finished the trim on windows and doors there and over by the grill:
And now it is time to start moving on. However, despite having the 28ft ladder ready to go by the entry door, there is a section about 8ft long over the grill area that needs done on the overhang, and can't be reached from the other side of the grill wall.
So I did my best "incredible-hulk" impression and flopsy-folded out the multi-purpose ladder and hefted it into place by bracing it against the grill wall to get it upright, and then opening it further as I walked the base away from the house wall.
But.... of course.... the heavy concrete bench and table stopped the ladder exactly one rung shy of the angle it really needed to be safe.
Cause that is how things always are, right? So some shifting and more green-super-hero stuff, and there it is.
Ready to scoot back and forth the 8ft as I paint. First black spray into the vent to help hide the off-set supports, then roll green on the soffit, then white on the soffit bars, then green on the wall. And that isn't counting any scraping and caulking that might be needed. I think I actually spend more time moving around ladders than I do painting.
Unfortunately, all this means for several more days I will be on the painfully narrow rungs of the multi ladder.
Soooo..... much...... fun.
