Hubby and I have been in a dilemma about cars… It seems silly that we need a minimum of three, but with hubby driving as much as he does, it is an all-too-common event that one will be broken in some way before the next is fixed, and when that happens I am left without transportation. Not that I want to go anywhere when I have a car, but when I don’t… I suddenly get the urge to go to town for no apparent reason. And while I sometimes get hives from the mere thought of going to town alone, when I don't have the option it stresses me out even more. Yea, I never said I wasn't cat-lady-level of crazy.
So we have been trying hard to decide if it is worth it to fix two of the broken ones, or get a newer (and hopefully in better condition) one while we have the option to do so. After hemming and hawing and looking at a dozen cars for sale, hubby decided on this one. It will replace the wagon “Roo” and the Justy “Bluebie”. So we will be looking to sell those two sometime soon if this one pans out.
We will be getting it checked out at the auto shop and hopefully everything will be fine and good to go.
It is a "LL Bean" version of the 2001 Subaru Outback... which means it is extra-fancy and has a 6 cylinder engine instead of the normal 4, making it even more qualified than our old wagon to come powering up into the mountains. And of course it still has AWD... something pretty important when trying to make it up our driveway in snowy conditions.
Hubby checked it out last Friday and picked it up this morning on his way to work. I hope it looks as good in person as the pictures from the sales ad…
While it's family name isn't written in stone, especially since I haven't even met it yet, I am already leaning towards "Beanie"... but "Beans" is pretty high on the list, too.
"Why do you name all the cars?" you ask.
Well... just picture it this way... it isn't like we can say "Hey... take the Subaru to work today." or even "The Subaru Justy."
Either way would result in "Which one?"
Good reason, right? Well, at least better than admitting to being more crazy than I already have in this post.
