Time for healing the heel.
A while back I had gone in to the doctor for an assortment of things, and one of the things was pain in my left heel that would not go away since back in September and kept hurting worse and worse if I walked or stood much at all. It hurt a lot in the back of the heel and doc suspected tendinitis. Which… it was… cause I used the anti-inflammatory ointment and did exercises and the back-of-the-heel pain went away after several weeks. However, with that pain gone, I realized I got the tendinitis from unconsciously ...

Battling the Spring Cold and a few little things.
Uggg. Was all excited to go sit on my swing and drink my coffee this morning cause it is finally bright and sunny and the wind finally stopped (way too much wind yesterday). But stepped outside and realized that not only was the sun not shining directly on the swing yet… but it is 35 degrees out there!
For most people winter is the coldest season, but since the sun dips and streams into the windows all the way to the back of the house, for me, it is one of my warmest seasons. But spring ...

Not great... but better.
I have been feeling a bit better and think I am almost back to normal after that terrible sinus-goop-whatever issue I picked up on the way home from travels. However, I know that the continuing allergies are probably a lot due to the staggering amount of dust that my house collects.

There are actually very few things about living in the city that I miss. One is our great neighbors, and the other... is Halloween. While the trick-or-treaters were often bundled up in snow-suits over their costumes since Halloween is often one of the coldest nights of the year in Denver for some reason, now and then we would have a year warm enough to see all the cute costumes.
And of course, sadly it seems that the majority of costumes are now store-bought with little thought and ...

First Snow of the Winter
While the furnace finally kicked on the morning before last, and the kitties have been telling me "Itz Cold!" for a week, and they finally convinced me to excavate the wood stove that was buried under tools and summer construction supplies yesterday, and I finally re-set the thermostat to winter settings... I just can't seem to accept that it is winter until the first snow sticks to the ground.
Of course, with it ...

And then I fell down...
Like I was shot by an invisible sniper, or someone had just yelled "Take cover!" In fact... I don't think I could have intentionally thrown myself to the ground that effectively if someone was shooting at me. I would probably just stand there looking dumb.

One Little Thing - A Challenge
Some people say "It's the Little Things", but mostly, it isn't. It is the BIG things that knock you down or lift you up. Like a heavy weight boxer with a mean right hook. But that isn't the whole story. For bad or good, what gets you to the point where one big hit will send you over the top... you guessed it... IS the "Little Things".
Little things that make you happy or sad, or even just grind away at your time a few minutes a day. Nothing really... really ...

The Five Stages of Grief... Over Pizza Dough
Over the last few months hubby has made pizza dough several times. The pizza was so delicious that I decided we should make pizza every weekend... or more. It even had me planning double-double batches so that we could have pizza for lunch all week, too. Yes... it really was that good and I even ordered pizza "screens" to make baking the pizza easier.
But why ...

Some Wicked Wind This Way Blows and A Very Silent Night
Sunday was windy, and while it would be easy to think that the mountains don't get strong winds... just take note of the fact that buildings in our area have to be rated for 120 mph gusts. We get seasonal 80-100 mph winds a few times a year, but I think some of the current gusts have been running even above that.
Yesterday afternoon the wind knocked out power several times in the surrounding areas, and dropped power to our whole area around 5:30pm. Thankfully the wind died down completely by 6pm so ...

Happy New Year 2015 and the Shortest Resolution Ever
Hubby and I have very few traditions. I think without having kids, traditions just don't seem as important. Everything is flexible. Which, in one way, is nice because everything becomes easily movable to a convenient day-off-work. But it also means that holidays and special events are a lot easier to slip under the rug and forget about.
Some of the loose events that we try to make time for, consists mainly of going out to dinner at least some time near our birthdays and anniversary. On the ...

More About Our New-Used Car
So our new-used car, a Suzuki SX4 Sport, has been running well so far and already has a name. Okay... so I have to admit I named the thing before I even had a chance to drive it, but with hubby having to take it to work before the crack-of-dawn and not getting home until pitch-black-O-clock, I didn't even get a chance to drive it around until Saturday and it needed a name long before then.
Much like "Roo" our first Subaru... this SX4 got it's name mostly from it's ...

What Craft Fair?
Sadly the question most asked of us on Saturday at the "Deck The Mall" event was "What's this for? Is there some kind of event going on?" Evidently the advertising for the event was more than lacking, and a search of online came up with almost no listings and those that were still listed the event being on the 15th.
So while we were excited to have good weather despite fighting some wind in the early morning and evening, and a good spot on a corner, sales were definitely less than ...

Fixing Flow to an Unusual Faucet
When flow to a faucet fouls up, the first thing to check is the aerator... No, this isn't something you fly with. The little screen that is usually screwed onto the faucet where the water comes out.

Time to Clean Up the Dining Room
Well I was about to finish up a couple projects and write a couple posts about them, but somewhere between heading to the kitchen for some cereal and spending the rest of the day watching TV and taking pain killers, I broke my toe. You know the one… that little pinky toe that jumps half way off my foot in a kamikaze attempt to destroy whatever is on the dining room floor that shouldn't be.
In this case, half of my tools and one large case of nuts, bolts, and screws that evidently weighs the ...

Cleaning Shame and a Little Light
I have been toying with writing this post for quite a while, but I have to admit that I am a little uncomfortable sharing my failings to the world. However, this blog isn't just about building things and things that make me happy. It is also about my life, because maybe in my failings and attempts to recover and over-come, someone else may see something that helps them.
So... this dire preface sounds like the world ending, but I am actually talking about cleaning. And for those of you who ...
