A2 Hosting still has not fixed the Database after their servers failed AGAIN. A2 Hosting is the WORST!
Because of this, new posts are currently missing and I can only HOPE they eventually recover the table they didn't restore after their latest failure.

Getting Ready for a Busy Two Weeks


Hubby is back from international traveling for work, but he will only be home for about two weeks before heading back out for the rest of the year.  I may be able to go visit him, but that is pretty much all up in the air.

So while hubby is home, we need to get a lot of the "before winter sets in" things done.  With that in mind, hubby and I got a sliding glass door ordered from HomeDepot and they should be delivering it tomorrow.  So this coming weekend we will be trying to replace the one with the cracked outer glass.  The packing tape I put on it is starting to get weak and I don’t think it will hold the glass in place for another winter.

That will be #1 of several major projects we need to tackle around the house before hubby heads back out of country.  Trouble is, he will also be working for the two weeks he is home, so I suspect we may not get the projects all done and I will be stuck trying to do them on my own.  

Priority...  That is what it is all about.  Putting first the jobs that I can’t physically do by myself… then the ones that will be hard but I can do if I have to.  And hopefully hubby will be able to get a couple days off during these two weeks and we will be able to get most of the hardest stuff done together.

On our way home from getting hubby at the airport, we also got a nice big 28 ft heavy duty fiberglass ladder in good condition from craigslist for about ¼ what it would have cost new.  That will let us reach the top front edge of the house from the ground and means we will have some better options for taking care of the scraping and painting of the facer boards that are 20ft up from the front side of the house.  Of course, hanging over the back-side of the roof may still be the better option for scraping and sanding, but the ladder will give us access to safer reach of the lowest boards.

So… on the list of hope to get done projects…
  1. Sliding glass door replacement (brother-in-law may be able to help with if we can’t get it figured out)
  2. Sealing spots around sky-lights and the entire lower roof edge
  3. Scraping, sanding, and painting the facer/trim boards around the roof overhangs
  4. Installing trim around new sliding glass door and replacing trim around another and some damaged trim
  5. Mixing and pouring 30+ bags of concrete for the curved ramp walkway
  6. Digging up the septic lids for pump-out then re-filling
  7. Digging a water run-off ditch across the straight driveway
  8. Moving junk and building materials off the patio and into the barn/shed
  9. Hopefully selling off two of the semi-running extra vehicles
Sounds like a completely reasonable to-do list for one weekend and a hopeful couple days off work, right?  Er.... right?

Seriously though you won't climb that ladder without someone being very close by will you?

Thanks, and we will try to visit some if we get the time.

And no about the ladder.  Besides the fact that that thing is HEAVY and probably not something I will wield much alone anyway... one of the biggest reasons I need hubby home for a few days is that I don't want to be on that high of a ladder without someone else home.  Of course, I can't say I won't use the ladder for shorter distances to do some trim work and such, but nothing nearly that tall by myself.
