Patio Progress
|
After counting all the bags of concrete and using most of them to fill in around the broken slab we had, the "grill paddy" is looking pretty good. So yesterday I made some nice progress in re-laying the patio bricks.
Each one has to be pulled up, cleaned, then the sand re-angled, smoothed, and added to where needed. Then the bricks have to be put down onto slightly more sand and then pounded into level to compact the sand underneath. It would be much easier if I had a compactor that kind of runs over everything like a strangely jiggly lawn mower, but renting one would be too expensive for the length of time that re-laying all the bricks will take.
It is slow going and I only have done about 5ft of the most narrow portion of the 50ft I need to get done. However, it is making it look MUCH better than it did, and will fix several low spots near the house that should slope gently away.
So from this:
It is now looking like this:
Today I had to go turn in my paperwork for my passport, so I also stopped by home depot and got the flashing for doing the door trim around the new patio door, and several bags of sand so that I can continue re-laying the bricks. It may be a long time before the whole patio is redone, especially since it will require moving some large things like the fire-wood shed, but eventually it will look nice.
