With added visitors up this weekend and mom and dad leaving a few days earlier than planned, we have not gotten much more done than at the last update. However, having the roof completed is sure a relief. Of course, I don't think it has rained a single drop since it was finished. Isn't that always the way? We also got the electrical roughed in and the paper up on the other long wall so it will soon be ready for windows and siding. It would have been nice to get other difficult items checked off the list... like the rest of the siding, which is not only slightly floppy, over-sized, well above my center of gravity, and generally unwieldy, but also delicate at the edges so you can't really use a good grip on the sides to carry it. However, I managed with the first wall, so I know it can be done, and the other walls are at least a little shorter, so hopefully the cut-down pieces will be a little easier to manage by myself than the full 4ft x 9ft sheets. Here is the status currently.... Mom and dad are headed out this morning and I don't know what I will try to tackle today. Best guess is preparing the outer edge of the base with a tar strip to protect it from moisture and install the windows. But shredding out the left-over turkey and taking a nap is equally likely.

8/15/2016 7:54:32 AM Punkin WOW, Things are looking great. We were hoping that your mom and dad would be able to stay for another week. It is good that you got the things done for keeping out rain so you don't have to do a mad dash to cover everything when a dark cloud moves in. Sounds like you need a day, today to get some rest and regroup to know where to begin again.

8/15/2016 9:13:40 AM TinkerT Honestly, had I know that my helper time was going to get cut almost in half of what was expected, I am not sure I would have under-taken the project at all. But I did, it did, and here I am... so nothing to do about it but get busy before it all catches up to me and I fall apart. Everything takes about three times as long as initially expected, and with only two hands, it seems to take three times longer than that. But it WILL get done. Basically, it has to. LOL

8/15/2016 1:00:25 PM WA Mom So is this going to be your indoor workshop? Does it block any of your beautiful view? It is really looking good. You have done a great job. Rest sounds like it is really deserved.

8/15/2016 1:06:49 PM TinkerT It won't provide as much room for everything I would really like for a workshop, but will get me a nice little space to hold a lot of my tools and hopefully have a little room to work in. Basically... it should help me clear out the giant mess in the dining/kitchen area that I have been using to do projects in. Eventually, if we ever save up enough to build the big garage-workshop of my dreams, then I will turn this into a little craft/sewing room or something. However, we have decided that it is a better investment to pay off the house first, so the dream garage will be quite a ways off and the "shed" workshop will have to do until then. It only blocks the one sliding glass door that was already blocked with firewood and the loft stairs... so it won't change the view I am used to.
