After finishing my first box, I got busy building a box almost every day. The second box I built was a battery charging station, but I was unhappy with the over-size and generally loose fit. I also quickly realized that I have very little need to have shelves for every single battery since they disappear into my tools again the moment they are charged.
A holder for clamps was next...
Then a marker-cutter-pencil cup set, square rack, and a tape and towel holder converted from a kitchen rack.
I also hung a couple multi-drawer organizers by just attaching cleats to their backs.
After that it was time to build out a major box for holding stains, finishes, and glues, but also to make better use of the depth and hold hand-tools on magnet strips in the same wall-print (like a foot-print, but on the wall).
First I routed grooves for the top and bottom shelf and then clamped the sides together to drill peg holes through one side board into the other to create evenly spaced spots for shelves. Then I glued and screwed together the frame...
I added the back board to one side and then clamped the frame square before attaching it on the other three sides.
I added some quarter inch plywood to reinforce the back of a cupboard door, then added the magnetic strips to the face of the door and installed it with three cupboard hinges (though I might replace them with stronger door hinges later).
Like the tape measures though, as soon as I had a place to put screwdrivers, they appeared in every room in massive numbers. I may very well need to make some other kind of holder for them at this rate.
My most recent box re-visited the battery charging station and made a new, much more compact box. The old box was cut into half and now makes two, though I don't really know what I want to put in them yet.
Unfortunately there is not much easily accessible wood left to build with, so I will need to pick up some more boards for cleat hangers and figure out how to dig into the shed to get at some shelf boards stored there before I can do much more. In the mean-time I am making some small progress at cleaning up the dining/kitchen area just from the few boxes I have made so far.
Progress. Slow and intermittent... but progress nevertheless.
