Walking a Cat While thinking about getting another pet, hopefully to be friends and get Ten moving around a bit, as well as getting me moving around a bit... I did a lot of contemplation on whether it is easier to train a cat to be a dog.... or a dog to be a cat. ... |

My big purchase and big dilemma... a Vacuum. Well… For this Black Friday sales season, the big purchase was a fancy new vacuum to replace my older vac that I have had to glue pieces together on a few times and finally can’t find all the pieces to glue back anymore. Was totally my fault for trying to use tools on the hose that didn’t quite fit fully… but in any case, time for a new vac. After months, and indeed, almost two years of keeping an eye on vacuum prices and features, I decided that this would be a serious investment and I would go for the ... |

NOT feeling strong. This time last year I was finishing up building a shed/workshop, which included a whole lot of things that I couldn't actually do without creative physics on my side. However, there was quite a bit that was just total brute force. Like digging this rock-filled gravel/dirt out of the foundation area.
And at the end of all that... I was worn down to a frazzle, but I remember feeling strong. ... |

Replace a damaged trim section, and Painting the House is "Done". To save my sanity I finally had to separate the projects of "painting the house" and "fixing-scraping-sanding-painting the fascia (roof edge) boards", as well as the doors, and a few bottom boards that can't be done until the patio is pulled up, etc.... ... |

Exterior paint and a few tips... I am going to officially call the front of the house... Done. I know, there are a couple spots like the last board where the patio bricks are, under the porch lights I want to replace, and the edge that needs trim replaced from a satellite dish, but I am not counting those specialty spots that need other work done first. And besides... I just need to be able to call some part of this "Done". Here it ... |

Paint Progress While my foldy-collapsy-flippy-scaffoldy ladder is great for versatility, it is nearly as heavy at the huge 28ft slide ladder... and the steps are twice as sharp and painful to stand on for very long. My great work shoes from Colombia flex enough to easily grip the rungs, but are more resiliently padded than any other shoes I have. Still, I am almost looking forward to being up on the super tall ladder with flatter steps instead. And with some progress over the last week or two, I will soon be up there again. ... |

Demo Ouch. While demolition work has long been relegated to the hubby, sometimes things just need to get done... like the demolish and removal of this dog house that mice, foxes, bees, and who-knows-what-else has been using for a party-pad since long before we bought the house. And since it is too heavy to just move even with two people, it has sat hosting the mating rituals of foxes right next to our bedroom window. Now that is something you don't want to hear in the middle of the ... |

Widen a path or walkway When we were originally planning for the curved walkway, I think hubby and I planned a full 3 ft wide. Time for healing the heel. A while back I had gone in to the doctor for an assortment of things, and one of the things was pain in my left heel that would not go away since back in September and kept hurting worse and worse if I walked or stood much at all. It hurt a lot in the back of the heel and doc suspected tendinitis. Which… it was… cause I used the anti-inflammatory ointment and did exercises and the back-of-the-heel pain went away after several weeks. However, with that pain gone, I realized I got the tendinitis from unconsciously ... |

Battling the Spring Cold and a few little things. Uggg. Was all excited to go sit on my swing and drink my coffee this morning cause it is finally bright and sunny and the wind finally stopped (way too much wind yesterday). But stepped outside and realized that not only was the sun not shining directly on the swing yet… but it is 35 degrees out there! For most people winter is the coldest season, but since the sun dips and streams into the windows all the way to the back of the house, for me, it is one of my warmest seasons. But spring ... |

A beautiful day for outside. While we have had a few very sunny mornings or evenings, the irritating wind has crossed paths with the sun almost every time, making for very few truly perfect days so far this spring. Of course, here in the mountains, it isn't really spring until mother's day... so I am taking the warm days as they come and trying to make the most out of the ones that are not windy as well. Today... is... that day. Perfect sun and only a very light breeze to keep things nice. The mountain side is alive with the ... |

Big Plant Changes Early this year I gave in and cut down all the pothos plant vines over the kitchen cabinets. They were just too much work when leaves would die off for no reason 2 to 3 times a year. I have started new hoya and some real philodendron plants to replace them, but it is a barren shock each time I go in the kitchen for now. While the hoya and phils don't loose leaves like the pothos, they also don't grow nearly as fast, so it will be a long ... |
