Back from the far side of the world.
This is just a short post to let everyone know that hubby and I have made it back from the other side of the world.

Simbad's dyslexic girlfriend sews him some cargo pants.
Ummmm, yea.  Anyone remember the 80s or early 90s MC Hammer or "Simbad" pants with the crotch down to the knees?

Preparing for a huge trip and a "Miracle Shopping Pack"
I know, I know... I have been promising to write a big post about my first trip out of the country to visit Hubby where he is working in Colombia.  But... I don't have time for that right now.  Why?  Because I am preparing for a huge trip to tour Thailand with a stop-over in Beijing, China.
Yep.  And if the planning alone isn't enough to send me into permanent cardiac-arrest, the hidden costs associated with it definitely are.
The trip itself isn't as expensive ...

More Winter
Just when you think the massive winds, then an impossibly warm day on Sunday, means that winter is over...

Wind Warning
Gladly the mountains here are not prone to many of the environmental concerns that other areas need to worry about.  No hurricanes, no earthquakes, very rarely (if ever) tornadoes, and since I am relatively close to the top of the hill on one side of the valley, no worries about flooding.

Cleaning Up My Act and New Fridge Adjustments
Okay… so I finally got my act together and pulled up the plastic in the livingroom (that I put down to keep the carpet clean while I was out of town) and vacuumed.  Then while I was at it, I vacuumed what I could get to in the office, the bedroom, a random portion of the kitchen and dining area, the rug in front of the kitties food… but then had to stop because Hamper clogged up my upholstery attachment too much.  How do I know it was Hamper and not Ten?  Well… because Ten doesn’t like it when I vacuum her with the ...

New Tools and Project Plans
I love my family and my in-laws... and not just because they are all amazing people, but also because they know a girl can never have too many tools.

A Quick Winter Drive
I know it has been a long time since I posted last.  I have done a few little projects around the house, traveled on my first international trip, learned some interesting things about Colombia, and managed to expand my spanish vocabulary by about fifty times from what I knew.  (Which still isn't saying much.)
And while I know I should prepare and finish a half-dozen posts about those things, the fire is warm and my butt is lazy, so this is about all the updating I am up for...
I ...

A Confusing Morning
I have trained my new phone to wake me up with a soft alarm and then a minute later to turn on some music (since it is just about guaranteed that I didn’t get up by the alarm).

Halloween Treat.
I have been so sad about my favorite drill.  It has been missing since about the time hubby and I replaced the door and did all that stuff and I was beginning to think it had been carted off with the trash and debris from replacing the door.

Happy Halloween!
There are actually very few things about living in the city that I miss.  One is our great neighbors, and the other... is Halloween.  While the trick-or-treaters were often bundled up in snow-suits over their costumes since Halloween is often one of the coldest nights of the year in Denver for some reason, now and then we would have a year warm enough to see all the cute costumes.
And of course, sadly it seems that the majority of costumes are now store-bought with little thought and ...

First Snow of the Winter
While the furnace finally kicked on the morning before last, and the kitties have been telling me "Itz Cold!" for a week, and they finally convinced me to excavate the wood stove that was buried under tools and summer construction supplies yesterday, and I finally re-set the thermostat to winter settings... I just can't seem to accept that it is winter until the first snow sticks to the ground.

Of course, with it ...

Quick Bare Phone Pocket / Slip Case
I have finally gotten smart.  Well, at least my phone has.  There was a good deal on Groupon for a refurbished fancy, at least compared to my old style, phone and free service from FreedomPop.  (You can see my review of FreedomPop at the end of this post.)

And then I fell down...
Like I was shot by an invisible sniper, or someone had just yelled "Take cover!"  In fact... I don't think I could have intentionally thrown myself to the ground that effectively if someone was shooting at me.  I would probably just stand there looking dumb.

Tidy Up.
As summer fades away and fall starts stripping the aspen leaves, I have a tendency to push aside any thoughts of cleaning and press firmly on the panic button for all the last little things to do outside before it starts staying cold all day.  Surprisingly this fall, most of the things left to do actually involve cleaning, or at least some attempt to tidy up the projects that hubby and I have gotten mostly completed.
For example, cleaning up that big pile of dirt by filling back in the holes over the septic tank ...

How to Grill Wall... Maybe.
While I would like to say this is a "How To", I am reluctant to say so when I don't know how long (or short) this grill wall will last in the outdoor weather.

So I "Painted" the Shed...
I have been terribly torn about the paint I got for the shed.  It was too light, and despite the best efforts of the paint mixing person, the best we could do is a little less too light.  The color is probably still too light for the house, but it looks great on the shed, and I am kinda in love with the color.
So I painted the shed...
Or maybe I painted the ...
